Fall Lawn Care

It’s time for fall yard work, including raking leaves and trimming dead limbs and branches.  As you go about cleaning up your yard, remember:

  • Not to burn leaves, grass clippings or other items near the lakeshore or on the beach.  The remaining ash is highly alkaline.  If it enters the lake it is like fertilizer and can promote algae growth.
  • Stay at least 30 feet from the lakeshore when fertilizing and use phosphorus free fertilizers.
